2013-2014 School Year

Part-time Media Specialist Grades PK-5

Blessed Sacrament Catholic School

  1. Professional Development Goals for my own growth and development regarding certification:
    1. Apply for and acquire Temporary Educator’s Certificate for Media Specialist Grades PK-12 (Fulfilled July 1, 2013).
    2. Attend New Hire Mandated Training in the areas of Ethics of the Profession and Orientation (Fulfilled August 9, 2013, at the Bethany Center).
    3. Begin studying for the Florida General Knowledge Exam and receive a passing score on all components of the exam (Fulfilled June 20, 2014).
    4. Enroll in an education course at St. Petersburg College and receive an “A” grade toward certification. (Fulfilled May 9, 2014, “Teaching Diverse Populations”).
    5. Enroll in another education course at St. Petersburg College and receive an “A” grade toward certification. (Fulfilled July 25, 2014, “Classroom Management and Communications K-12”).
    6. Become a full-time Media Specialist for the coming 2014-2015 school year (Fulfilled).
  2. Professional Development Goals for classroom improvement and student relationships:
    1. Attend Atriuum Library Software Training Workshop to better serve students as a school librarian (Fulfilled October 29, 2013, at Nativity Catholic School).
    2. Begin working on a Collection Development Policy (CDP) for the library, as currently, a CDP does not exist (Started November 1, 2014)
    3. Weed the current library collection to make space for new, updated books--both fiction and nonfiction--for students to check out and read (Started August 8, 2014).
    4. Receive Florida classroom management training (Fulfilled June 28, 2014 “The Classroom Management Conference” at LSU in Baton Rouge, LA).
  3. Professional Development Goals related to Catechist Certification:
    1. Attend the Diocesan Catechist Orientation (Fulfilled August 9, 2013, at the Bethany Center).
    2. Begin Catechist modules by attending at least one Catechist Module (Fulfilled February 13, 2014, Module III: Morality at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church).


2014-2015 School Year

Holy Family Catholic School (PK-6)

  1. Professional Development Goals for my own growth and development regarding certification:
    1. Begin and finish one year's worth of full-time experience (Fulfilled this school year.)
    2. Attend mandated Diocesan Classroom Management workshops lead by Elizabeth Fulham and Alberto Vasquez-Matos (Fulfilled Oct. 9, 2014, at Espiritu Santo and Nov. 21, 2014, at the Bethany Center).
    3. Enroll in an education course at St. Petersburg College and receive an “A” grade toward certification. (Fulfilled Oct. 2014, Measurement, Evaluation and Assessment in Edu. K-12).
    4. Enroll in the Professional Mentoring Program (Fulfilled January 2015) and continue writing Professional Development Plan.
    5. Continue studying for the Professional Education exam and pass (Fulfilled: June 20, 2015)
    6. Continue studying for the Educational Media Specialist PK-12 exam and pass (Fulfilled August 4, 2015).
  2. Professional Development Goals for classroom improvement and student relationships:
    1. Begin student-centered library assistants program. Students learn how to shelve books, process books and collect books in the morning for check-in (BSCS and HFCS).
    2. Co-organize and run “Book Worms,” an afterschool library and reading program for student K-2 (HFCS).
    3. Move nonfiction collection to one location in the library for easier access and visibility and weed the fiction section of the library (BSCS).
    4. Join the school choir to promote the love of singing and learning (BSCS).
  3. Professional Development Goals related to Catechist certification:
    1. Attend and complete two Catechist Modules (Fulfilled: August 11, 2015: Module II: Celebration of the Christian Mystery at Sacred Heart Church; Fulfilled: February 26, 2015: Module I: Profession of Faith at St. Paul School)
    2. Complete Modules and receive Catechist Certificate next school year.

2015-2016 School Year

Holy Family Catholic School (PK-6)

  1. Professional Development Goals for my own growth and development regarding certification:
    1. Apply for the Professional Educators Certificate online (Fulfilled November 25, 2015)
    2. Complete Accomplished Practices Portfolio and submit it by December 2015 (Fulfilled January 9, 2016.)
    3. Attend Professional Development Conference on Communications and other Library/Tech-related (Fulfilled: November 3-8, 2015 at the American Association of School Libraries Conference, Columbus, Oh)
  2. Professional Development Goals for classroom improvement and student relationships:
    1. Update all student’s library automation accounts to include parent’s email address. Parents will be notified when his or her child checks out a book, has a book overdue and/or owes any fees. Students’ OPAC accounts are set up so students can access accounts in school or remotely (Fulfilled: September 2015).
    2. Email parents of any ongoing behavior problems; call for a meeting when necessary (Fulfilled as of November 2015).
    3. Attend all Student Support Plan meetings (if applicable) (Fulfilled as of November 2015).
  3. Professional Development Goals related to Catechist certification:
    1. Attend the final module required for Catechist Certificate and receive a certificate of completion (Fulfilled July 30, 2015: Module IV Prayer at Sacred Heart Church.)
    2. Begin advanced Catechist Modules online
